ABOUT JOSEPH WILTON
English sculptor who was one of the founding members of the Royal Academy. He sculpted a bust of Dr Antonio Cocchi.
He trained under Laurent Delvaux at Nivelles, in France and then went to the Academy in Paris to study under Jean-Baptiste Pigalle.
His works are known for memorializing particular people in Westminster Abbey.
His father was an ornamental plasterer.
He made two busts of Oliver Cromwell .
