British actor known for his work in such acclaimed films as A Room with a View and The Killing Fields. He also played roles on television series such as Smallville and 24 . He amassed over 150 acting credits throughout his long career.
He had one of his first roles in the 1984 film Oxford Blues.
He was nominated for a 2013 Drama Desk Award. In 1991, he played Yves Cloquet in the movie Naked Lunch. In January 2023, he went missing on a hike in Los Angeles, California. His remains were officially found in June 2023.
His two marriages, both to journalists, Sarah Harvey and Evgenia Citkowitz, produced a total of three children.
He had a role in Ken Russell 's 1986 film Gothic.
