ABOUT JULIE KENT
Ballet dancer and artistic director of The Washington Ballet. She was a principle dancer with the American Ballet Theatre from 1993 - 2015.
She was born in Bethesda, Maryland and studied dance at the Academy of the Maryland Youth Ballet.
She appeared in the ballet cult hit Center Stage as prima ballerina Kathleen Donahue.
She married fellow American Ballet Theatre Victor Barbee in 1996.
She was born Julie Cox, but when Mikhail Baryshnikov discovered her at age 16 he encouraged her to change it to Julie Kent.
