Known for a pass-heavy offense, he was the head coach of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons from 1994-1996 and the University of Hawaii's head coach from 1999-2007.
He was a college quarterback for Oregon, Hawaii, and Portland State.
He signed on to coach SMU in 2008.
His parents are Marilyn and June Jones Jr.
Quarterback Steve Bartkowski was his teammate on the Falcons.
