Justas Paleckis

ABOUT JUSTAS PALECKIS

Lithuanian journalist and politician who served as acting president of Lithuania after the Soviet invasion.

He worked as the director of the Lithuanian official news agency, ELTA during the mid 1920's.

As head of state of the Lithuanian Soviet puppet state he personally signed orders authorizing the mass deportation of several figures from independent Lithuania.

His son, Justas Vincas Paleckis, is also a politician and is a Member of the European Parliament.

He and Kazimira Prunskiene were both politicians in Lithuania.
