ABOUT KARL VANNIEUWKERKE

Flemish reporter and journalist who is known for his coverage of sports events. He is best known for hosting segments on Vive le Velo and for having started the program Karl & Kompany for Radio 2 where he focuses mainly on the World Cup and other football events.

He started his career as a freelance journalist and reporter for the newspaper Het Volk. He then ventured from written work into television in 1994 when he started as a reporter at the West-Flemish FocusTV.

He is also known for his love of cycling and wrote the book Wanting to Become a Renner about the sport in 2005.

He was born and raised in Belgium and shared a photo of his daughter through Instagram in February of 2019.

He is known for having travelled with cyclist Eddy Merckx in September of 2015 and rode through The Netherlands, France, and Italy.
