ABOUT KATHLEEN RAINE
An English poet, literary critic, and scholar, she is known for such works as Stone And Flower, Living in Time, and The Pythoness. She also published an acclaimed, two-volume scholarly work entitled Blake and Tradition.
She was born to a British father and Scottish mother and spent a portion of her youth in idyllic Northumberland.
She had an unrequited love for homosexual author Gavin Maxwell, but their friendship ended after she accidentally caused the death of his pet otter.
She left her first husband, Hugh Sykes Davies, for Charles Madge. Her marriage to Madge produced two children and also ended in divorce.
Her literary work was influenced by the poetry of William Butler Yeats , and she also published several scholarly articles about Yeats.
