Professional journalist whose career reached new heights when she became the Europe Editor for BBC News. Previously, she was a BBC international correspondent and a news anchor for Deutsche Welle Television.

She studied Italian and German at the University of Bristol.

Her film Spain's Stolen Babies finished as a runner-up for a 2012 RTS Award.

She was born in London to German parents.

While working as the BBC Madrid correspondent, she covered the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat .
