ABOUT KEN STOTT

Perhaps most famous for his role as Balin in The Hobbit films, Stott is also known for his starring role in the Scottish crime series Rebus.

After training at London's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, he performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He was nominated for a 1997 Laurence Olivier Award for his role in a London West End stage production of the play Art.

He grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland as the child of teachers Antonia and David Stott. Before ending in divorce, his marriage produced a son named David.

He appeared with Ewan McGregor in the 1994 comedy film Shallow Grave.
