Afghanistan-born actress who is best known for being the target of her cousin and father's plan to kill her. She angered her family after choosing to become a film actress as well as for being romantically involved with a Jewish man. The pair was arrested in December of 2020. Her experience led her to become a staunch advocate for women's rights.

She was born in a Taliban-controlled area of Kabul and moved to the U.K. with her family at age seven.

Her father and cousin were arrested after taking multiple trips to Slovenia in search of her and attempting to hire a contract killer.

She is married to director David Cohen.

As an Afghani actress, she joins the likes of Azita Ghanizada , Layla Alizada , and Annet Mahendru .
