English new wave singer who released the top five singles "Kids in America" and "Chequered Love" in 1981. She released the first single from her tenth studio album in many countries across Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia in 2006. She released over 10 solo albums throughout her career.
She was signed to RAK records at the age of twenty. One of her first groups was called The Vernons Girls. She moved to Hertfordshire when she was nine. She attended Tewin and Presdales School.
She has been a television host on England's Loose Women, Top of the Pops, and Breakfast. In 1981, she won best female singer at Rockbjörnen.
She had two children, Harry and Rose, with husband and actor Hal Fowler, to whom she got married in 2006.
She featured the singer Charlotte Hatherely on the 2006 version of her single "Kids in America."
