He played football at William M. Raines High School in Florida.

He played college football at the University of South Florida and was the team's captain his senior year.

His uncle Eliott Walker played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.

Ron Rivera was his defensive coordinator on the San Diego Chargers and his head coach on the Carolina Panthers.
