Political pundit widely known for her contributions to outlets such as USA Today, Newsweek, and Fox News. She began her career as the Democratic Party staff assistant for the Clinton-Gore presidential transition team before being appointed Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Public Affairs.
After graduating from the University of Maryland, she briefly attending Georgetown University Law School.
Between her bookended political career, she worked as the vice president of international communications for America Online.
Both of her parents, of Irish-American heritage, were archeologists. She briefly dated congressman Anthony Weiner in 2012. She was married to professor Marty Makary for three years before the pair divorced in 2013.
In 2010, she worked as the press secretary for Andrew Cuomo 's campaign for governor.
