ABOUT LABI SIFFRE
Poet and songwriter who released eleven studio albums between 1970 and 2006, including The Singer and the Song and the spoken word album Monument. His song "I Got The..." gained popularity for its appearance in the critically acclaimed TV series Better Call Saul .
He remained an atheist while receiving his education at the Catholic school St. Benedict's School.
He wrote "(Something Inside) So Strong" after watching a white soldier shoot black children in a made-for-television film in South Africa. His song "Bless the Telephone" has earned over 16 million streams on Spotify.
He and his four siblings were raised by his British mother and Nigerian father.
Michael Ball covered "(Something Inside) So Strong" in 1996 and his version hit #40 in England.
