Italian actor who first gained significant success in the commedia sexy all'italiana genre of film. He went on to star in the 2007 historical drama film I Viceré. From 2012 to 2014, he played Basilio in the drama series Il restauratore.
He moved to Rome at the age of 16 to pursue a career in acting.
His performance in I Viceré earned him the Globo d'oro for Best Actor. He had a minor role in the 1959 religious epic film Ben-Hur.
He was married to Lucia Peralta from 1956 until her death in 2010.
He worked alongside Cristiana Capotondi on the cast of I Viceré.
