ABOUT LARRY LEVIS
American poet, author, critic, and professor whose literary works include The Afterlife and The Dollmaker's Ghost. His 1972 debut collection, Wrecking Crew, received the International Poetry Forum's U.S. Award.
He received graduate degrees from Syracuse University and the University of Iowa.
He taught English at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1992 until his death (four years later) from a heart attack.
He grew up in California's San Joaquin Valley as the son of a grape harvester.
He admired the work of Randall Jarrell .
