ABOUT LAURA MAIN
Scottish singer and actress best recognized for her portrayal of Sister Bernadette, or Shelagh Turner, in the BBC1 drama Call the Midwife. She also held recurring roles as D.C. Alison Bain in Murder City and Rebecca Howlett in The Mill.
After beginning work in musical theatre at the wee age of eleven, she went to university for art history. However, eventually she went on to study acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
A talented singer, she is a featured soloist on the Call the Midwife album released in 2013.
She was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland.
In November 2015, she won the Children in Need Strictly Come Dancing special alongside dance partner Brendan Cole .
