Feminist journalist who has contributed to the Guardian and the New Statesman. Her first published book was Meat Market: Female Flesh Under Capitalism in 2011.
She graduated with an English degree from Wadham College, Oxford in 2008.
She launched her blog Penny Red in 2007. She has made appearances on 10 O'Clock Live and BBC Two's Newsnight. Her Instagram handle is lauriepenny.
Her father is lawyer Raymond Barnett.
She and Katrine Marçal are both considered to be feminist journalists.
