Hawaiian guitarist who specialized in the slack-key guitar finger style, which was characterized by the guitar's open tuning.
He was a part of a family group Hui 'Ohana with his twin brother and cousin.
He has received Na Hoku Hanohano Awards from the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts for his work as a solo artist, a member of Ledward Kaapana & I Kona, and a member of Hui 'Ohana.
He grew up in the black sand bay village of Kalapana, which had no electricity.
Legendary guitarist Chet Atkins gave him his guitar, the highest compliment that can be given in country music, after he saw him play.
