American sculptor who created pieces that challenged artistic conventions. Her work consists of steel frames covered with canvas.

She attended the Art Students League of New York where she studied with the sculptor William Zorach .

She received a Fulbright scholarship and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award.

Her parents raised her in Providence, Rhode Island.

She taught at Brooklyn College, where Jimmy Smits studied.
