ABOUT LEON MANDRAKE
Former magician, ventriloquist, and escape artist who is remembered for his performances as Mandrake the Magician.
As a child, he'd often watch magicians at the Edison Theatre and the Pacific National Exhibition, which sparked his passion to study the craft.
In 1978, he was awarded the Performing Fellowship at the Academy of the Magical Arts, given to him for his long-standing contributions to magic.
He married his first wife, Princess Narda, in 1939.
He and magician Guy Bavil both performed at The Magic Castle in Hollywood.
