ABOUT LES WICKS
Australian poet, publisher, and editor known for The Ways of Waves, Nitty Gritty, The Ambrosiacs, and other poetry collections. A performance poet, he toured to many Australian literary festivals.
He studied Industrial Law at the University of Sydney and helped to organize a union for poets.
He was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 1980.
He was drawn to political activism after he witnessed the politically divisive effects of the Vietnam War upon his family members.
He and fellow poet Dorothy Coade Hewett were both born in Australia.
