Film and television actor, he became internationally well-known through the 2013 US-German production The Book Thief.

He began his film career in the 2013 German film Wolfskinder.

He plays and writes songs for the piano and uploads recordings on his YouTube channel sporadically.

He was born in Hamburg but moved to Cologne early on in his life.

In The Book Thief he shared the screen with actors Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson .
