ABOUT LEY UWERA

Professional photographer and photo journalist known for being a contributor to Everyday Africa. She is also known for being the creator of Goma Pazuri. She shares her portrait photography documenting life in Congo to her Instagram for her over 60,000 followers.

She graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Cepromad. She first started sharing her photography to Instagram in March of 2014. She gained international attention when she was featured at the Look3 Festival of Photography in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Her works have been published in a range of different press outlets including BBC Afrique, Huck Magazine, and the New York Times.

She was born and raised in Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
