British actress who starred in many plays during the late 1800s and early 1900s including The Lady of Lyons and As You Like It.

She was educated as a young girl by her brother's tutor making her one of the few educated women of her time.

She owned a luxury auxiliary yacht called White Ladye from 1891 until 1897.

She was married twice and had a daughter Jeanne.

She was portrayed by Stacy Haiduk in the 1996 television series Kindred: The Embraced.
