TV Actress, singer, and dancer best known for her roles in All American , Never Have I Ever , and Little Fires Everywhere . Her show All American won an award from the Black Reel Awards for Television. Her series Extant won a Critics Choice Television Award.

Her first on-screen role was in the TV series documentary National Geographic Investigates in 2011.

She comes from a Japanese-American background and speaks both English and Japanese fluently. She was born and raised in California. Her first recurring role came in the series Extant.

She posted a picture of her mother on her Instagram story highlights for Mother's Day in 2022.

She joined Reese Witherspoon in the cast of Little Fires Everywhere. She has also worked with Matt LeBlanc , Steven Spielberg , and Halle Berry .
