ABOUT LUCIUS D. CLAY

U.S. Army military governor who oversaw the occupation of Germany after World War II.

He graduated from West Point in 1918 and, in 1942, became the youngest brigadier general in the U.S. Army's history.

He orchestrated the Berlin Airlift after the USSR closed off all roads leading into the city.

His son, General Lucius D. Clay, Jr., was Commander-in-Chief of the North American Air Defense Command. His other son, Frank Butner Clay, was also a decorated general.

He served under General Dwight D. Eisenhower .
