ABOUT LUIGI ALMANNI
Sixteenth-century Italian poet and political figure known for La Coltivazione, Opere Toscane, and other works. He was one of the first Italian poets to write epigrams.
He took political refuge in France in the 1520s as a result of his acts against the Italian government.
He produced a romantic work entitled Girone il Cortese in 1548.
His father supported the Medici party. Luigi Almanni, however, had different views and became part of an anti-Medici conspiracy.
He served for a time as an ambassador to Charles V .
