ABOUT LUIS ALBERTO LACALLE

Politician who was the President of Uruguay from 1990 to 1995. During his tenure he issued many economic reforms and attempted to move his country into a free market economy.

In 1964, he obtained his degree from University of the Republic's prestigious law school.

Prior to realizing his political ambitions, he worked as a journalist for Clarin, a popular Latin American newspaper.

He had three children with wife, María Julia Pou Brito del Pino.

He and Joyce Banda have both served as Presidents of their respective countries.
