Somali singer who was known for her accompaniment of the Waaberi ensemble. She passed away at the age of 55 from breast cancer.
Her first musical gig was with a small Mogadishu-based band.
She became popular in the 1970s through her patriotic songs during the Somalian and Ethiopian conflict.
She was married briefly to Mohamed Nur Galaal.
Her musical talents run in the family, as her nephew is famed rapper and poet Kanaan .
