Egyptian actor who became prominent in the late 1930s and appeared in over 100 films during his career. His accurate portrayal of sinister villains earned him several awards.
He made his acting debut in the 1933 film, The Wedding.
He was nicknamed the Marlon Brando of the East because of his physical resemblance to the former American actor.
He was married to Egyptian actress Olwiyya Gamil for 24 years.
He was born in the same country as fellow actor Adel Emam .
