American novelist known for her books Half in Love: Stories, Liars and Saints, and A Family Daughter.
She got her Master of Fine Arts degree in Fiction from the University of California, Irvine.
In 2004, she was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship.
Her older brother, Colin Malloy, has been the lead singer in The Decemberists.
She was featured alongside Jonathan Safran Foer on a Granta list of "Best Young American Novelists."
