Notable for his roles in Sarfarosh, Makdee, and numerous other Hindi films, this Indian actor also appeared in such Kannada and Malayalam features as, respectively, Dandupalya and No. 66 Madhura Bus.
He remained active on the professional stage throughout his cinematic career, penning hundreds of plays and establishing a theatre company called Ansh.
A director as well as an actor and playwright, he helmed the 2013 Hindi feature Sona Spa.
A native of Ratnagiri, India, he later settled in Mumbai.
He and Sonu Sood were both in the cast of the 2009 Telugu film Ek Niranjan.
