ABOUT MAKI OHGURO

Singer-songwriter known primarily for her single "DA・KA・RA" which sold over 1.1 million copies and won the Japan Record Grand Prix Newcomer Award of the Year in 1992. Due to her typical musical hiatuses, she has been nicknamed by some as a "phantom singer." She has released over 36 singles and 13 studio albums.

She released her debut single, "Stop Motion," in 1992.

Her 2017 single "Lie,Lie,Lie" was used as the opening theme for the Japanese Anime television series Case Closed.

She is a native of Sapporo, Japan.

She shares a December 31 birthday with Psy and Donna Summer .
