ABOUT MARGARET LOCKWOOD
English actress who rose to fame on the back of her starring role in the 1934 historical drama film Lorna Doone. She went on to give acclaimed performances in the 1943 melodrama The Man in Grey and the 1955 suspense film noir Cast a Dark Shadow. During her later career, she appeared in the musical film The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella.
She began attending the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts at a young age.
She was named Best Film Actress at the 1948 Daily Mail National Film Awards for her performance in the historical melodrama Jassy. In 1955, she received a BAFTA nomination for Best British Actress for her performance in Cast a Dark Shadow.
Her parents were Henry Francis Lockwood and Margaret Eveline Waugh. She married Rupert Leon in 1937. Her daughter, Julia Lockwood, was also a famous actress.
She worked alongside Richard Chamberlain on the cast of The Slipper and the Rose.
