She got her start as a stage actress. In 1996, she appeared in Gertrud by Hjalmar Söderberg. She also appeared in the short film Sans Regrets, which came out the same year.

She is the daughter of movie director Terry Hands and actress Ludmila Mikaël. She is the granddaughter of the painter Pierre Dmitrienko.
