ABOUT MARIO BOLJAT
Former defender and midfielder who played for the Croatian-based club Hajduk Split from 1969 to 1979. He later joined the German Bundesliga squad Schalke 04 just a year later. He also played for the Yugoslavian men's national team during his professional career.
He initially began playing soccer as a young boy coming up. He eventually began his youth soccer career with Hajduk Split.
He made his official international team debut with Yugoslavia while playing against Romania on November 13, 1977. He and his teammates won the match 6-4.
He grew up living with his family in Split, Croatia.
He primarily played the position of defender during his professional career just like Chris Smalling .
