ABOUT MARION DONOVAN
Entrepreneur best remembered for inventing disposable, waterproof diapers. She also worked as an editor at both Vogue and Harper's Bazaar magazines.
She received a degree in English from Pennsylvania's Rosemont College and went on to study architecture at Yale University.
In the 1980s, she invented a floss-like product called DentaLoop.
She grew up in Indiana as the daughter of a manufacturing plant executive and fellow inventor. Her two marriages -- to James Donovan and James Butler -- produced a total of two children.
She and fellow American woman Elizabeth Hazan both had successful careers as inventors (Hazan developed an antifungal and antibiotic medication).
