She grew up in the high desert near Joshua Tree working at a dance studio and was a 4-year member of the competitive high school dance team.

After graduating from Cal State University, she moved to Los Angeles and got a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and began a modeling career.

She was born in Palm Springs, California. Her birth name is Markie McManus.
