ABOUT MARSHALL BOULDIN III

Twentieth-century painter best known for his portraits of such American political figures as U.S. Senator John C. Stennis and Mississippi Governor William Winter.

He attempted to be a farmer but ultimately converted his henhouse into an art studio and pursued a full-time career as a portrait artist.

He was commissioned by supporters of Richard Nixon 's presidential campaign to paint a portrait of Nixon's daughters.

He was born in Dundee, Mississippi, and worked on his parents' Clarksdale cotton farm in his youth.

He painted several portraits of non-politicians. Among these was an image of the renowned Southern author William Faulkner .
