ABOUT MARY MCDONNELL

Became known after being nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the 1990 film Dances with Wolves . In 2012, she began starring as Captain Sharon Raydor in Major Crimes. She has garnered over 50 different acting credits throughout her long career.

She won an Obie for her work in the play Still Life in 1980.

She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the 1992 film Passion Fish. In 2023, she appeared in the The Fall of the House of Usher .

She married Randle Mell in the 1980s and together they had two children named Oliva Mell and Michael Mell. They separated in December 2021.

She played President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica, which co-starred Edward James Olmos as Commander William Adama.
