ABOUT MATT NIETO
Professional ice hockey player who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Before playing for the Penguins, he used to play for the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks . He was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
At the age of 2, he became fascinated with rollerblading after watching his sister rollerblade around the house. When he turned 3 years old, he started playing roller hockey at the YMCA.
He won a gold medal with the United States team at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships. In the following year, he was able to repeat the United States' gold medal success at the 2010 IIHF World U18 Championships.
He has an older sister, Christian Faith, and a younger sister, Erin.
He and fellow ice hockey player Jake Guentzel have both played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
