ABOUT MATTHEW JOHN O'DOWD
Astrophysicist best known to the general public as the host of PBS Space Time on YouTube. He has also appeared as a guest on the StarTalk podcast with Neil deGrasse Tyson . His academic appointments have included positions at the City University of New York and the American Museum of Natural History.
He worked on his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Space Telescope Science Institute and the University of Melbourne .
His PhD thesis was titled "The Host Galaxies of Radio-loud AGN." He has appeared on a number of episodes of Science Goes to the Movies.
He is from Australia and later lived in New York. His partner is neuroscientist Bahar Gholipour.
He interviewed Richard Branson in a video about space travel posted to the PBS Space Time YouTube channel on March 13, 2019.
