ABOUT MATTHEW SAAD MUHAMMAD
Popular boxer in the 1970's and 80's due to his fast-paced style. He was the WBC Light Heavyweight Champion from April, 1979 to December, 1981.
He was taken in by nuns at the Catholic Social Services after the death of his mother.
He was ranked #24 on Ring Magazine's list of The 100 Greatest Punchers of All Time.
His mother died when he was an infant.
He defeated Englishman John Conteh in 2 consecutive fights in March and May of 1980.
