ABOUT MAX APPLE
An American fiction writer, he is best known for works such as Free Agents, from 1984, and The Propheteers, which was released in 1987. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1995 film, Roommates.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and subsequently taught creative writing at Rice University for nearly three decades.
He wrote the screenplay for The Air Up There, a film starring Kevin Bacon . Three of his screenplays were turned into feature films.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he later settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He and sports coach Jack Ramsay were both affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania.
