ABOUT MAX BRAND
An American author of western fiction, he is known for his 1930 novel, Destry Rides Again, as well as for his Dr. Kildare series. He wrote over 500 novels in total.
He attended the University of California-Berkeley, but dropped out of college to join the Canadian Army. Eventually, he settled in New York.
Writing under a number of pseudonyms, he published numerous pulp magazine stories.
He was born in Seattle, Washington as the son of Gilbert Leander Faust and Louisa Elizabeth Faust.
Destry Rides Again was adapted into a Broadway play starring Valerie Harper and a film starring Marlene Dietrich and James Stewart.
