ABOUT MAX LERNER
Russian-American author, editor, professor, and journalist whose controversial New York Post column debuted in 1949. He was a well-known columnist during the Nixon presidency, due to his strong opposition to the president.
He studied at Yale University, Washington University in St. Louis, and the Brookings Institution and subsequently started working as an editor for PM, The Nation, and other publications.
He taught at Harvard University, Williams College, and Brandeis University, among other institutions, and he published his important work, "America as a Civilization: Life and Thought in the United States Today," in 1957.
He was born in Russia, and he and his family immigrated to the United States when he was five years old.
He had an affair with Hollywood star, Elizabeth Taylor .
