She graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase and was subsequently cast in the 1973 Broadway production of Irene.
She won Theatre World Awards for her performances in the Broadway revivals of The Music Man and Brigadoon.
She grew up in Chicago, Illinois.
She co-starred with Dick Van Dyke in the 1980 Broadway revival of The Music Man.
