Gospel singer who rose to fame through her appearance on season 21 of American Idol , where she passed the first round with three "yes" votes from the judges. Due to the popularity of her audition, she gained a large fanbase on her megandaniellemusic Instagram, where she promotes her music and shares singing clips.

She sang with a band in bars for several years before transitioning fully to Christian music. She and her mother worked as waitresses in a diner before she went on American Idol.

She also sang in season 18 of The Voice , where she was on Kelly Clarkson 's team before being eliminated in the semifinals. She finished as the runner-up during her season of American Idol.

She was born and raised in Douglasville, Georgia. She has cited her grandfather, who passed away shortly before her appearance on American Idol, as a large inspiration in her music career.

She sang Lauren Daigle 's "You Say" for her American Idol audition, and was surprised during the audition by the singer herself.
