Mehrdad Minavand
ABOUT MEHRDAD MINAVAND
Former midfielder and soccer coach that played soccer professionally in Iran, Belgium and Austria for just over 10 years. He was also given the opportunity to represent the Iranian national team during the 1998 FIFA World Cup. After retiring, he began working as an assistant coach for clubs Khooneh Be Khooneh and Sepidrood Rasht.
He first began playing soccer as a young child growing up. The first soccer team he joined was the Atash Neshani youth club.
During his professional playing career, he played in exactly 21 UEFA Champions League matches. In fact, he holds the record for most Champions League appearances by an Iranian soccer player.
He and his wife, Shabnam, were married 2020. He was born in Tehran, Iran.
He shares a November 30th birthday with Bo Jackson and Gary Lineker .
